Preparing for a boudoir photoshoot doesn’t have to be overwhelming.
In fact, a little preparation goes a long way in helping you walk into your session feeling calm, confident, and excited.
If you’ve booked (or are thinking about booking) a boudoir session in my Long Island studio, this guide will walk you through exactly how to prepare —
physically, mentally, and emotionally — so you can enjoy every moment of your experience.
Start With the Right Mindset
The most important part of preparing for a boudoir session has nothing to do with lingerie, hair, or makeup — it starts with your mindset.
You do not need to change your body.
You do not need to “earn” this experience.
You are worthy of being photographed exactly as you are.
Boudoir is not about perfection. It’s about presence, confidence, and letting yourself be seen.
One Week Before Your Boudoir Session
The week leading up to your photoshoot is all about gentle care — not extreme changes.
- Hydrate & Moisturize
Drink plenty of water and moisturize your skin daily. Hydrated skin photographs beautifully and helps you feel more comfortable in front of the camera.
- Avoid Trying Anything New
Now is not the time to experiment with new skincare products, tanning solutions, or intense workouts. Stick to what your body already knows and loves.
- Get Plenty of Rest
A well-rested body and mind make a noticeable difference. Aim for good sleep in the days leading up to your session.
Choosing What to Wear
When it comes to boudoir outfits, comfort and confidence matter more than size tags or trends.
Bring Options
Bring 4–6 outfits in different styles — lingerie, bodysuits, oversized pieces, or something sentimental. We’ll choose what photographs best once you arrive.
Fit Over Size
Make sure your outfits fit well and don’t dig into your skin. Well-fitting pieces help you move more freely and feel confident during your session.
Don’t Forget the Details
Heels, jewelry, hats, button-down shirts, or even a leather jacket can elevate your images and add variety.
If you’re unsure, send me a message and I’ll help you decide — that’s part of my job.
Pack Your Bag
Pack your outfits, shoes, accessories, and any personal items you want to include a couple days before your shoot. Pre packing everything helps reduce stress.
The Day of Your Boudoir Photoshoot
Wear Loose Clothing
Wear loose-fitting clothes to avoid marks on your skin before your session.
Eat & Hydrate
Please eat before your shoot. Nourishment helps your energy, mood, and confidence.
Arrive With an Open Mind
You don’t need to bring confidence with you — it builds during the session. All you need to do is show up.
What You Don’t Need to Worry About
Let’s clear this up right now:
- You don’t need to know how to pose
- You don’t need to practice in the mirror
- You don’t need to “wait until you lose weight”
I guide you through every pose, expression, and movement. You are never left wondering what to do.
After Your Session
Once your session is complete, you’ll review your images and select your favorites. Each image is professionally edited to enhance your natural beauty while staying true to who you are.
Most clients leave saying they feel more confident than when they walked in — and that confidence lasts long after the photos are delivered.
